Voyager Stuck on Connect

Hello,

 

We use Voyager to schedule data transfers between different systems.  We've had an issue where voyager will hang during the connection phase.  When this happens none of the other scheduled tasks will run and it doesn't seem to timeout or retry.  If we cancel the task, the rest of the tasks usually run without issue.  It doesn't get stuck in the same place and doesn't stop every day.  It's getting very frustrating and becoming difficult to rely on the tool.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  It looks like it's been a while since there was an update.

Doubts Serv-u

1. There are some system variables not documented in http://www.serv-u.com/kb/1737/System-Variables-In-ServU or in the product manual. Ex: $FileShareTokenURL, $FileShareExpires and $FileShareComments. We need the variables that contain the Subject and Comments fields of the email sent by FileShare, email is the image below:

2. We would like to translate the message that is sent when a file is sent to the user via File Sharing. The system sends the following message, but did not find option to translate.

3. Another screen that would like to translate. Where the translation can be done???

4. Theres any way to run the service under a different account of the System account and has not administration permission. If possible, what privileges are needed?

SMTP server alert

I apologize if this has been asked before but I could not find the answer if it was.  We recently lost power to a group of servers.  We were not alerted because one of the servers that went down was the mail server we use for SMTP.  Does Solarwinds offer an external "dead mans switch" of sorts?  We need an external device polling the SMTP server periodically that can fire off an alert to our network team if it does not receive a response over a particular period of time.  We would like to go with solarwinds before resorting to a separate service.  I was told spiceworks offers this service.

Mobile Device - via http access

Hi all

I have configured MFT with http enabled and hve the Service accessible via desktop\laptop IE\Chrome without issues

However if I attempt access via Mobile device (Safari) i get the Following message after I enter User name and password

 

"No Interfaces are available to you. Please contact your system Administrator"

Has someone else encountered this, what step did you take to resolve

Any assistance appriciated

I have a nice customized log-in page but once logged in you get the "really nice" Serv-U themes and logos. Is it possible to customize the color schemes and logos inside the site?

Can I display a custom message when someone log into Serv-U using sftp?

I am working on a government computer and implementing Solar Winds Serv-U using sftp Protocol.  I am required to display a standard message about the user accessing a government owned computer and what some of the penalties are for misusing the computer.  I need to be able to display this when the user first logs into the computer using sftp.   I see how to do it for ftp, but NOT sftp.  Is this possible to do?  If so, how?

Server-to-Server SFTP file transfer

My company is installing Serv-U for file transfers, and the platform looks great for inbound files, but the MFT Server and Web Client Pro does not appear to support server-to-server scheduled file transfers for our outbound files.  We need software that can send our data files to various vendors, and we are trying to stay away from custom-built script language solutions.  Does SolarWinds offer anything to support server-to-server automated SFTP file transfers?

Duplicate Windows Group Configuration (OU) To another Serv-U - (Clustering)

Hi Guys,

 

I have a question considering cluster configuration. We have two servers with Serv-U installed on each behind a LoadBalancer. Everything works fine ! I have understood how really works Windows authentification (OU) to be able to keep NTFS Permissions and everything works perfectly but. I have configured one server (the configuration is pretty long because of our infrastructure is pretty complex)

 

So my question is : Is there a way to be able to duplicate Serv-U Windows Group Configuration to the other server or should I configure manually the second server like the first one?

MFT Web Client Date format

Hi All,

I have my Windows server set to AUS region and Date\Time format (dd/MM/YYYY)

So my MFT root folder shows files and folders in the correct format for my region/Users

 

However the Web client shows US date format (MM/dd/YYY)

Any Ideas on if this can be modified? I have logged this with the support team as well

Servu-U not usable, security issue

why don´t change solarwinds the issue that everyone can send e-mails with any identity ???

 

If i Logon to serv-u webinterface (send file, LDAP Authentification is active) i can change my sender name and also sender E-mail adress!!

So i can send E-mail very easy with an fake identity

Force Password Change After...

Is there a way to force a user to change the password that is sent via email after a password recovery is requested??

 

so that the password provided in the recovey email is only good for the first login and then before they can go any further they are prompted to change the password.

Does Serv-U Encrypt the Files?

I am looking for a solution to help our clients with File Transfers and I am curious if Serv-U actually encrypts the specific files before they are transferred?  Specifically I am looking for encryption at rest, not in-transfer.  I need to know that once my client downloads the file that they will then need to decrypt the file.

In short, the LDAP configuration dialog for users has been updated to auto-populate Active Directory servers & simplify LDAP configuration. Of course, we also put in some bug fixes and security updates.

 

Some details on Improving LDAP configuration are;

    • Auto-detect Active Directory systems
    • Updated advanced configuration options
    • Allows for the testing of user logins from the wizard
    • Now provides tool-tips to help guide you through fields
    • Improved the look & feel

Serv-U MFT Hangs when using SQL for users/groups

We have a Serv-U MFT server that is being backed by a SQL 2014 database for users/groups. This will be deployed as a clustered configuration for Serv-U so the DB is required. The problem I am having is the everything works great with a couple users in the database but when we load the 5000 we need to, it tends to lock up the servu application for around 10 minutes. The ServU server has 12GB of memory and 2 vCPUs (in vmware).

 

Has anyone had this behavior and possibly know how to fix it?

Hi all

Add a virtual path in domain users directory

Hi, I tried my best to trawl the topics already and look at existing documentation but I am stumped again. I have managed to get LDAP integration working for my users, I also have SSL access working, this is hopefully my last major step before I can actually invite some users to use this program.

 

I want to add access to some directories outside of my users profile folders.

When they login they currently sit in their home directory.

 

I tried to add Virtual paths in my default LDAP user group as a test but I cannot seem to get them to show.

 

for example I have an entry for

 

"\\Server\shares\" with a virtual path of "%HOME%\Shares"

Under Virtual paths

 

"\\server\shares" RWA-N-LC-NI access

Under Directory Access

 

Also to note in the default LDAP group my home directory is empty, I think this setting is taken from my LDAP authentication screen,

the settings in my LDAP configuration are set as follows;

 

search filter: (&(objectClass=user)(userPrincipalName=$LoginID))

attribute mapping;

home directory = homeDirectory

full name = name

email address = mail

login ID = userPrincipalName

group membership = memberOf

 

Hopefully I have provided enough detail for someone to help me out, there is likely something obvious that I have missed?

Missing Documents from Requested File Share

Is anyone else experiencing an issue where files randomly go missing from the web client?

The scenario is that one of our internal users sends a Request File Share link to an external user. The external user then uploads a file using the Request File Share link. Our internal user is notified that the file was uploaded (they receive an email with the time, filename, file size, and link to the file). The internal user then clicks on the link and there is no file to be found. They don't see a file in the Request File Share Properties section, or in the Home Page section of their Serv-U account.

 

This results in the end user contacting our internal IT department for assistance, we confirm they cant see the file. We then go to the Serv-U server and search for the file name, locate the file and deliver it to them securely.

 

This issue has randomly occured ever since we were on Serv-U 15.0.0.0 and we are now on 15.1.4.5, the issue still exists and has occured more frequently.

 

 

I hope no one else is experiencing this issue since its quite disruptive, though if you did please share a solution if you have one.

Serv-U mft / SFTP Connection slows down other transfers and serv-u management console

Hi,

 

may anyone have a hint for me whats going wrong?

 

I'm testing the serv-u mft Software.
So far it works fine but I faced a Problem:

 

 

Problem:

SFTP connection slows down performance of the Serv-U mft server

- While uploading files per SFTP the serv-U-Management Console is not responding

- While uploading files per SFTP all other operations like FTP-Uploads/downloads extremly slowed down.

 

System load on the Serv-U mft Server isn't extraordinary high during the SFTP-Connection

 

 

Serv-U-MFT Server

VM Windows Server 2102 R2 64bit

2 Cores @2,6 GHz

4GB RAM

 

Serv-U File Server (64-bit)

Version 15.1.4.6

Install Information

Build Date:26.07.2016 08:44:53

Install Date:27.10.2016 11:39:14

 

 

For exampel:

Heres a excerpt from a transmission of some image files per FTP.

I started a SFTP upload on another client. While this SFTP-upload runned

the FTP-Performance of the running FTP-transfers slowed down rapidly.
