LDAP Authentication Issue

$

We are having issues setting up LDAP authentication in the new version 15 RC1. We have everything setup like it says to in the documentation but we keep getting an error that says "ERROR: Login was not successful". It is creating the home directory correctly when someone tries to log in but they get the error. Has anyone else seen this issue?

I tried following the help documentation to get group membership working, but wasn't successful in getting group membership to work. I am trying to make a group that only certain users has access to it.

When configuring the LDAP authentication any users can log in.

Hello first time post. Thank you for taking my inquiry.

I cannot locate the Sysop Chat option in the latest version of FTP Voyager client. Was this an option at time of install. If so, I totally missed it!

Cheers

How would this be setup with Version 15?

User home is on local machine c:\ftproot\username

Directory/folder access required is on the network.

\\cifsserver\folder\userfolder\

I want the user to be dumped directly into the root of the network folder.

I've tried just %HOME% but that's not allowed

I tried the unc path and I get the same error.

Do I have to make the users home folder the same as the network folder?

Are there any other special characters I can use for the %HOME% variable like %HOME%/.*

Suggestions?

Serv-U Web Client Pro not working with new Java

I'm running Serv-U Gold 12.  Purchased it and my last upgrade was to Serv-U Gold 12.

However, the web client Pro doesn't work.  The moment Java updates, it stops working.   Anyone else have this problem or have a solution?  It's impossible to tell my clients to "downgrade" to a previous version of Java.

How do you fix this issue?  My Serv-U is running on Windows Server 2003

Urgent, if anyone can help it's greatly appreciated.  Rhinosoft is pretty useless and there's no posts or FAQ's on the Web Client Pro.

Confirming the SFTP listener fingerprint

Whenever you make a connection to the sftp service for the first time you are asked to confirm the fignerprint.  This is normal.  My question is with a default instalaltion on MFT using the MFT proxy component where can i go to find the fingerprint to actually verify it is what the server presented?

Serv-U windows authentication to SQL Server

I would very much like to configure Serv-U in a high-availability cluster.  However, we cannot migrate our users from Serv-U's internal user list to a SQL database because Serv-U does not support connecting to SQL Server using Windows Authentication.  It supports only SQL Authentication.  We have a SQL Server AlwaysOn availability group that would host the database, and degrading security by enabling SQL authentication on the whole cluster is not an option.

In the past, when I have asked about this, I was told to just use SQL Server Express... but then you have a single point of failure when you need to maintain the machine hosting SQL Server Express.  The whole idea is to avoid any single point of failure.

As our client base grows, it is becoming more and more difficult to find maintenance windows where we can update the server without disrupting our clients.  This is becoming a very pressing issue.  Can someone at Serv-U please provide a status update on this?  It doesn't seem like it would require all that much code to implement.

How do I see inherited directory access rules?

Once upon a time, when editing a user's directory access rules, any and all inherited rules showed up as well (shaded, to distinguish them as inherited).

Ever since Serv-U moved to a web-based format for configuration, I haven't seen that again - and there's no clear way to view a user's complete set of rights in one place.

Is there any way to bring this functionality back?

Serv-U historic reporting by user

We use Serv-U in order to move large files to a specific location.  We break up the files by folders and usernames.  So each user moves a different set and size of files.  I've noticed that within the Management console I can see data transferred by user, however, this is only reported between the time you run and when the last time the server/service was restarted.  Is there any way to be able to do historical reporting to trend out how much data is moving to the destination via Serv-U on a monthly basis?  I can't find anything, but wanted to check in case I'm overlooking something.

Will Serv-U Still Work Following an IP Address Change?

We are about to migrate our servers from our offices to our new datacentre. By carrying out this move our servers will have their IP addresses changed. Please can someone confirm if our licence will remain valid and Serv-U FTP will continue to work following a change of IP address? Will this cause any issues? We are looking to carry out our server migration this weekend so any help would be great!

Serv-u MFT and gateway licensing

$

We have been using serv-u ftp for years now and have decided to upgrade to the gateway and MFT offering.  I am trying to get my head around the licensing for this product.  I currently own the following

serv-u silver

serv-u gold

serv-u

serv-u mft

serv-u gateway

In the past we used the serv-u gold license on our main ftp server.  I use the other serv-u licenses on servers that host multiple websites and give access to these servers to my developers via FTP.  Since I only have a limited number of public IPs i need to install the gateway product on one of the webservers that already has serv-u installed for the developers.  All of these webservers reside in my DMZ.  Now if i need to install the gateway product on this server in my DMZ do i need to setup an internal LAN server that services the request for this gateway product?  Will this utilize one of my other licenses or is this included in the price of the serv-u MFT and gateway since i seem to need to install serv-u MFT on the server where the gateway software wasn installed or do i need to purchase a new license?  Thanks.

Transfer program from Windows to Linux

Hi, I have a MFT Server (with Gold License) installed on a Windows Server, that's very old. So I'm thinking to transfer the program on a virtual Linux Server. Is it possible with this license? How can I do this? Can I download the Linux version and install it, entering the license key that I have?

serv-u and gateway and mft

Ok now that i have figured out the licensing issue I am trying to figure out the architecture issue.  If you have gateway installed in the DMZ and serv-u installed in the LAN.  Does the internal lan copy of my serv-u need to reside on the file server that I want the files to exist or can it be a network share or waht is best practice?  Thanks.

How do I get it to listen at the designated IP address of the LAN card?
